In 2003 Buhl Data Service created the Sceneo™ brand to develop and promote applications
that merge the functionality of the PC with the freedom and convenience of the TV. When Buhl Data
Service needed to provide its Sceneo™ customers with a powerful yet easy-to-use digital
lifestyle management system they turned to Meedio.
Buhl Data Services's Sceneo™ division evaluated several "media center" type
solutions before concluding that only Meedio had the features, ease-of-use, extensibility, and
customization that they required for their TVcentral offering. And with a ready-made solution
that supports nearly unlimited possibilities for private branding, Meedio provided Buhl Data Service
with a time-to-market that couldn't be beat. Buhl Data Service quickly realized that the most
cost-effective path to delivering TVcentral was to privately rebrand Meedio's core software
platform.
Because of Meedio's robust SDK and open APIs, Buhl Data Service was able to not only customize
the Meedio GUI with their own brand but also quickly build additional "plug-in" modules
to add functionalities specific to their market. In fact, Buhl Data Service delivered a public
beta of their TVcentral offering two weeks ahead of schedule. Distributed through the
sceneo.com website and via c't magazine's cover CD,
the TVcentral beta immediately elicited an abundance of positive feedback from the thousands
of eager users who had installed the beta just seconds after it had been released.

Buhl Data Service is currently continuing its beta testing of TVcentral. At the end of August, the release candidate will be presented for the first time at the Games Convention in Leipzig, Germany's second largest computer fair after CeBIT. After that, TVcentral will be sold directly through the sceneo.com website and nationwide German retail stores. In addition, the software will be pre-installed on selected desktop computer systems by Buhl Data Service's OEM partners.
